Run in the Boonies

Chattanooga, TN

How well marked is the route for the River Gorge Race? I'd like to run the trails before the race. Are maps for the area available any where?

My Mom's 80th b'day is next week and we're taking her out Sunday. If you go again next week let me know. I definitely want to run the trail before the race.

Hey Brian,
Sorry I never saw this and replied. I am going to remove the link for the map you posted so as not to confuse and replace it with another one here -

6.5 Mile - http://blog.rockcreek.com/archives/gps_map_for_river_gorge_race_65_...
10.2 Mile - http://www.rockcreek.com/images_shared/River-Gorge/2010_10.2_River%...

For the 6.5 mile you turn up the fire road to the far right at Snoopers Rock which then dumps you back on the trail. I will try and go out and get those junctions marked before the weekend.

Thanks,
Jonathan
Section from start/finish to Snoopers Rock has been cleared of trees. For you 10.2 mile folks, the huge tree just past Haley Rd. has been cleared. We will be up inbetween Snoopers and Haley Rd. doing some tree removal in the coming days. Let me know if you are interested in helping. For you 6.5 mile folks, we will mark the junction that takes you back to the trail from the fire road before the weekend.
Thanks,
Jonathan
i will run the river gorge this weekend, not sure if sat. or sun. yet, watching the weather to know, and if i have to work sat. or not....if i work sat. and it aint raining i will run it about 3:00 pm sat. but if i run it sun. it will be about 12:00 , just trying to keep you updated on what is going on... if interested hollar back.....
