River Gorge Run Elevation Change
I live in the Atlanta area and am just trying to get an idea of what to expect as far as the hills go for the 10.2 river gorge race. Hoping someone can give me the actual elevation change numbers so I can compare it to some of the trails around here like Kennesaw Mtn.
I am hoping to run the course at the end of Feb, but would love to get some info between now and then. Thanks so much for anything you can tell me. I just want to do enough hill training so I can enjoy the race. Thanks!

A few of us ran the Mullens Cove loop yesterday. Here are some pics so you can get a feel for the course. The water levels were high, so the stream crossings were plentiful. It also made for slippery rocks that had to be crossed carefully. A gorgeous course though! http://www.bebackonmonday.com/news/2010/01/mullens-cove-loop.html I haven't run at Kennesaw in several years, so unfortunately I can't give you a side by side comparison. We'll probably do this loop on a weekend run in the future if you want to join a group.

hey cathi, me and a friend ran it too, we got there about 7:30 or so,it was windy,foggy, and cool but it was a nice run, there was no body there when we left,but when we got back,i saw a few cars,must have been you and some friends,creeks were deep,and a few trees down but it was a nice loop 100% single track,as slow as i am im suprised that yall didnt catch up with me...im going to try to run it every weekend untill the race in march,got to get faster! i like to be in the middle of the pack not the back....

Hey Cathi,
Thanks for taking the time to fill me in. I am really excited to check it out. My goal for the River Gorge Race is to simply finish, and enjoy it.
All of the running I do is on trails, but obviously not with the elevation changes that I am anticipating on the Mullens Cove Loop. I am actually more "concerned" about any long downhills than I am about going up. I am hoping to check out the trail at the end of February. We'll see. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
