Run in the Boonies

Chattanooga, TN

I started a couple of maps on google maps:

Lookout Mtn:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid...

Cumberland Trail:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid...

Let me know if the links work.  Anyone interested in helping out with these let me know, I think I can add people as collaborators.  It would be nice to add trail descriptions and what not, to make it an even better resource for trail runners.  I really need GPS tracks of the trails for anyone that has them.  I know a lot of the smartphones have apps that will work if you don't have a GPS.  I can also put the tracks into GIS and create some more maps.

I saw the old discussion on a trail database, and would be interested to know how far it got/where it left off, so I don't waste time duplicating work.

Let me know what you think.

Google maps is a disaster. I tried adding some trails I mapped this past weekend on Lookout, and things started getting wierd. It is a pain to work with, and since it limits the number of features per page, areas as trail rich as Lookout don't work well. I think I will just put everything in google earth and host the KMZ files somewhere for anyone that wants them.
