Run in the Boonies

Chattanooga, TN

On the old site there were links to some local trails with maps and such.
Is there any way we could do that to this site?
eg. provide links on one page to many different resources, maps, descriptions, parking, et al.?

We are currently working on a trail guide/resource. I am hoping it will be made available in the next couple of months.
Thanks for asking. For now, Brian gave you some good links and if you post a question on here, there are plenty of folks on the forum that know the trails in the area all too well.

Thanks, I know most of the trails in the area, and am getting more familiar with even more. You've answered my question about the database.

I'll add one I haven't heard many mention, the John Muir trail that starts in Reliance, TN has been one of the best that I have been on in a while. It is very moderate, and all along the beautiful Hiawasee river. I only did the section from Childer's Creek to the Powerhouse, but it goes on for another +- 16 miles.

Here is a link to a map I made of my run on the Muir Trail.
can you still get to the muir trail, cause of the 64 rock slide??
i have not run it yet and would like to check it out soon...

gary, i see you live in southpittsburg, are they any trails close to home for us, i live in bryant al. about 15 mins. from you, i know about the fury gizzard trail, have not been there yet either, but is on my list to do,this sunday i am going to do the half-marathon on raccoon mnt. i just got all the maps i need,i would like to run this race in may if i am ready, still new to this and over weight too...

thanks for your info...

For some reason there were a bunch of lines added to that Cravens loop URL. Try this: http://www.rockcreek.com/articles/trail_running/trails/cravens12.asp

On thing to mention as well- there's a new trail guide available now for the area- it has photos and maps along with great descriptions. The authors put a lot of the time that we haven't been able to find into compiling this:
http://www.rockcreek.com/books-and-calendars/off-road-trails-book/

It's only covering areas that are mountain-bike accessible, so there are even more places that this to run, but it's a great start.
