Does anyone organize training or just group runs anymore?  During these hot months I'm less inclined to venture out too far alone.  I also don't know many trails and thought group runs would be a…Continue

I think after so many encounters with nests in the past, I like the idea of a heads up just in case!

I may have passed you guys on my way out and your way back. I was the one moving at turtle speed. I think this hot summer turned every run into a slow one; hence my speed. Cathi and all, I believe the bees were a result of freshly fallen branches…

My brother, cousin, and I ran the old 11 mile course (to Suck Creek Road and back) on Sunday morning and likewise, came across no bees. Hopefully it'll be clear on race day next month!

I saw on a previous post that you were asking about training runs. I'm out on the trails on Signal fairly frequently (especially as the fall trail running season starts up), so shoot me a message if you're interested in a run.

Actually Robert, I have been back 5 times since and no trouble. Maybe I stumbled on a hive that had come down with some branches, Dunno.

Cautionary tale

I really meant to post this  last night but ended up taking benadryl and dozing off.  Anyway, I was running from Timberlinks road pull off  to Edward's Point yesterday early evening when, out of nowhere, I was swarmed and stung by many bees (9 to be exact).  Don't know what kind;  didn't stop to ask.  Proceeded to throw down my water and swat for maybe a tenth of a mile or so.  I took a different trail out and finished my run in the gym.  Anyway, went back for a recon run tonight for water…See More

Right now the group is meeting at the Greenway Farm, where the Greenway 5 miler will be in a few weeks. People are running a variety of distances so you won't be alone. I'm still rehabing my knee; hope to be running in a week or two!

Hi Cathi. Where is the meeting spot on Wednesday evenings? Sunday? I work in Athens so I am usually not back to Chattanooga until right around 6:00 but really want to start training with you guys! thanks.

There are Wednesday evening runs starting at 6pm, and usually a group run on Sundays. There's also a track workout on Thursday nights that Fast Break organizes (meet at the shop at 6:30pm). What sort of distance / time are you looking for?

Training runs

Does anyone organize training or just group runs anymore?  During these hot months I'm less inclined to venture out too far alone.  I also don't know many trails and thought group runs would be a great way to experience new spots.   Thanks, Ben
