Well, I ran my first 50K Saturday in the Rock Creek Stump Jump. I have run marathons on the road before, but nothing compares to running on trails. The extra miles really don't feel much different, even though I was out there twice as long. The aid stations, the help, the course and competitors kept me going. Early in the race, I got off course with a group of runners, adding 20 minutes to my time. It took about 13 miles before we caught the group that was just ahead of us. I have to look up more often and be aware. It really cost me in the end with my legs. Overall a great experience. I really can't compare this to any other course, but I plan to do another. I recommend the Stump Jump. It has great pre and post parties, fantastic help, aid stations and beautiful views! 50K's here I come!
